VMP Offers Ford F-150 Owners Supercharging Options
At VMP power and performance is not lost on Mustangs. We recognize Ford F-Series truck owners crave horsepower, so we’ve engineered a series of high-performance supercharger and tuning packages for SVT Raptor and 2011-present F-150 truck owners. VMP Performance has the parts and tuning to give your increased horsepower, torque, and in many cases, improved fuel efficiency.
Improved power is beneficial for towing, daily driving, off-road, or a trip to the track. That’s why Ford F-150 owners regularly look to VMP Performance for supercharging, cold-air intake kits, headers and aftermarket exhaust, improved intercooler efficiency, pulley upgrades, and engine tuning. VMP makes it easy for you to boost performance with three stages of supercharging to fit your budget and performance needs.
“The F-150 has a 5.0 L Coyote just like a Mustang, but the package is a little different so we’ve developed three stages of supercharger kits to meet the demands of our customers,” said Justin Starkey, President of VMP Performance. “For the 2015-2017 Coyote-powered F-150 trucks, our Stage 1 and Stage 2 kits include our Gen2R supercharger. These kits include the supercharger unit, lower intake, injectors, cold air intake, heat exchanger, throttle body, and all the hardware to go from naturally aspirated to supercharged. They also include a VMP custom tune that can be installed with an SCT device which is sold separately,” he added. The Stage 3 kit includes VMP’s brand new Gen3 TVS supercharger along with the necessary componentry.
The Stage 1 kit is a great entry-level, budget-conscious system that will help your F-150 develop 180-250 rwhp over stock depending on pulley size, drivetrain and fuel quality. “When the 2015 truck first came out we put a blower on it and found great results,” Starkey added. “These trucks generally make about 320 horsepower at the wheels and we can get 550-650 rwhp with our Gen2R depending on pulley size, drivetrain, and fuel quality. And we’ve designed the kits to be easy to install,” he added.
Today’s F-150 trucks feature a lightweight aluminum body, and even a SuperCrew model is just over 5,000 lbs. “So, paired with the Coyote engine you can get excellent performance. Taking this performance to the track, the Gen2R-equipped VMP F-150 has turned 11.50s in favorable weather and 11.70s in warmer weather,” Starkey noted.
Recently, VMP’s SuperCrew F-150 has been upgraded to VMP’s Stage 3 kit, which includes the powerful Gen3 2.65 L TVS supercharger. The VMP Gen3 TVS offers more power at similar boost levels as the Gen2R. The Stage 3 kit comes standard with VMP Performance’s TwinJet 67 mm throttle body, which support 800-plus rwhp. Want to step up? VMP Performance offers a 160 mm monoblade throttle body, and for fully built and engines there is the massive 173 mm VMP monoblade unit.
According to Starkey, “The VMP Gen3 supercharger is larger, more efficient and can support 750-1,000 rwhp. There’s lots of torque, which is great for towing, and on the strip with Rebecca driving we’ve gone 11.30 at 122 mph. Our F-150 was able to achieve 715 horsepower and 620 lb·ft of torque at the wheels. In ideal conditions we’ll be going for a 10 second ET. And these kits will soon be available for the 2011-2014 F-150,” he added.
The extra power makes for a unique experience. F-150 owners will surprise anyone who pulls up next to them, whether at the stop light or on the strip. The increased output gives improved towing performance and in many cases improved economy as well. To achieve maximum performance with any of the VMP kits, Starkey recommends a free flowing exhaust, traction bars to prevent wheel hop, and a driveshaft safety loop, especially for those who will drag race. All these parts are available at vmpperformance.com.
When it comes to the newer SVT Raptor, VMP offers a wide range of components to enhance acceleration, economy, and handling. If your Raptor is packing a 6.2 L V8, our VMP TVS supercharger kits are a great place to start. Boost is a wonderful thing and we can help you kick your Raptor engine up to 600-625 rear wheel horsepower. Of course you can take it higher with a set of headers, or larger throttle bodies, or a fuel system upgrade. And if boost isn’t your thing, we offer nitrous and the JMS PedalMAX to eliminate pedal lag and improve throttle response.
EcoBoost owners are not left out of the performance game, either. EcoBoost offerings include tuning and cooling system upgrades. And we’re constantly developing new parts and technology, so be sure to check back often for the latest news and performance parts.
