With Ford’s release of the new Mustang Dark Horse SC, supercharger performance and cross compatibility with the 2020+ Shelby GT500 5.2L Predator platform are the first two questions we wanted to answer!
We are excited to announce that VMP Performance is first to market with cross compatible parts for the Predator supercharged Dark Horse SC engine. Many of our popular 2020+ GT500 components serve as upgrades for the Dark Horse SC, allowing you to elevate your build immediately. Trusted partners like Evolution Performance have already outfitted high profile media builds using these cross compatible parts with exceptional results.
Below is a detailed overview of the 2020+ GT500 parts that can be fit to the Mustang Dark Horse SC:
- Throttle Bodies & Fueling: The VMP 108 mm throttle body (VMP-GT108MM) provides high-flow intake air delivery for ’20+ GT500 and Dark Horse SC builds. Direct replacement fuel delivery is supported by the VMP Billet Fuel Rail Kit (VMP-ENF035).
- Cold Air Intakes & Air Filter Hardware: Multiple cold air intake configurations are compatible, including the VMP Apex Predator CAI Kit (VMP-APX040), Carbon Fiber CAI (VMP-APX054), Forged Carbon Fiber CAI (VMP-APX084), and Forged Carbon Fiber Upgrade Kit (VMP-APX085). Modular options like the VMP Apex Predator Airbox Only (VMP-APX042) and 6 inch replacement Air Filter (VMP-INA028) are also direct fits.
- Supercharger Lids & Emblem Accents: The VMP Apex Predator Supercharger Lids increase internal airflow volume and lower intake air temperatures under high boost. Compatible lid units include Bare Aluminum (VMP-APX010), Black (VMP-APX011), Silver (VMP-APX012), and Custom Powdercoat Color (VMP-APX014), alongside complete lid and core packages (VMP-APX024). Factory aesthetics are maintained using the Ford OEM Supercharger Lid Snake Emblem Logo Plate (VMP-APX019).
- Intercoolers & Cooling Plumbing: Heat management upgrades include the VMP 81 mm Street Intercooler Upgrade (VMP-SUC035), Apex Street Intercooler (VMP-APX030), and VMP by PWR Apex Race Intercooler (VMP-APX031). High-flow cooling manifolds include the 16 AN Billet Water Manifold (VMP-SUC052), 16 AN Billet High-Flow Water Manifold (VMP-SUC053), 16 AN x 1 in Water Manifold (VMP-SUC084), and 1 in to 3/4 in Intercooler Floating Tube (VMP-SUC063).
- Pulleys, Belts, & Tensioners: Pulleys and drive hardware compatible with the Dark Horse SC include the VMP 6-bolt Hub & Cartridge Assembly (KR3Z-6J022-C-HUB), Predator Hub (VMP-HUB-M18), VMP F Pulleys (VMP-XX-8-F), and Griptec F Pulleys (VMP-XX-8-F-GR). Belt stability and drive management are supported by the VMP Billet Heavy-Duty Belt Tensioner (VMP-SUT006), Predator Claw Belt-Wrap System (VMP-SUT024), Smooth Upper Idler Kit (VMP-SUP046), AC Delete Idler Bracket (VMP-SUT026), and 10% or 20% Overdrive 8-Rib Balancer Kits (VMP-10OD52KIT, VMP-20OD52KIT). The Supercharger Shaft Holding Tool (VMP-SUA050) assists in installation.
- Gaskets & Tuning Accessories: Sealing reliability during supercharger work is maintained with the VMP Supercharger Gasket Seal Kit (VMP-SUG001) made from high grade FKM 70 material. Electronic calibration and diagnostic needs are handled via the VMP HP Tuners RTD4 Interface (HP-RTDinterface) and HP Tuners Credits (HP-Credit).
