Travis Kirtley’s VMP Gen3 powered GT500 is a potent daily driven snake!
When Travis Kirtley purchased his 2013 Shelby GT500 Convertible, “Red Mamba”, he made a special 2,000 mile trip from San Diego, CA to Ford Atkinson Wisconsin to pick it up. The cross-country travel was well worth it to Travis since this was one of only two GT500s in the country he was interested in buying. And, once home, he wasted no time modifying it.
Travis Kirtley explained that “I’ve always been a Ford guy and had many Mustangs. This is my second Shelby and I simply wanted a powerful, fast, fun daily driven snake.”
“I’ve been in the Mustang community for a long time now. My first GT500, a 2011, had a Whipple 2.9 L supercharger and a VMP Fuel Pump Booster. That was 4 years ago and how I came across VMP,” Travis told us. “The fit and finish of the VMP Fuel Pump Booster are great. I highly recommend VMP every chance I get.”
When Travis picked up his current 2013 GT500, he wanted to try something different. Since VMP just released their Gen3 TVS supercharger, he reached out to JustinStarkey, owner of VMP Performance, and they decided the VMP Gen3 2.65 L unit would be best. Travis was blown away by the setup and how easy it was to install.
With the VMP blower, the Shelby is extremely punchy without needing a ton of supporting modifications to run the system. The VMP Gen3 2.65 L TVS gives Travis exactly what he wanted: a powerful GT500 with street manners.
