Upgrade Options For Your 2024 Ford Mustang GT

The S650 Ford Mustang

Ford released the seventh-generation S650 Mustang in 2024, bringing many updates and changes over the outgoing S550. We saw this as the perfect opportunity to trade in our 2018 model and start developing performance upgrades for the newer model.

The Spec List

We upgraded to this 401A A10 automatic premium package so we could play with the luxury, comfort, and technology upgrades it offers, plus it gives us a chance to test out many of the most popular parts our customers tend to order. It’s a representative testbed for the mods and upgrades we offer as well as the many upgrades that will no doubt be developed for this beaut.

Some of the most noteworthy spec details include:

  • 480-hp 5.0-liter V8 motor
  • 10-speed automatic
  • 401 GT Premium Equipment Group – includes premier trim, illuminated door-sill scuff plates and more
  • Mustang Night Pony Package – blacked out exterior, badges, and black-painted aluminum wheels

Every 2024 Mustang GT is fitted with an updated 5.0-liter Coyote V8 with dual throttle bodies and dual intakes, making 480 hp even on this base model. Another improvement over the outgoing Mustang is the upgraded Brembo brake package, now fitted to both the front and rear axles so all 4 corners are solid, and sexy.

The active exhaust allows you to switch between loud and quiet modes, perfect for those early morning drives where you don’t want to wake the neighbors.

Probably one of the best sounding factory Mustangs we’ve ever had our hands on.

Stepping inside, the biggest difference we noticed was the two wide digital screens facing the driver. The dash display offers cool customizations, like changing the dials to resemble a Fox Body dash cluster, while the central infotainment screen features plenty of graphics that tech-junkies will love.

Dyno Results

If you’re interested in just how much power a stock S650 Mustang GT makes, then you’re not alone. We put this car on the dyno straight off the showroom floor.

The First Dyno Run

Our first runs left us wanting. Despite running the car to its 6,800 rpm red line, the best we could get out of it was 392 hp and 351 lb-ft at the wheels. That’s not terrible, especially in the Florida heat, but we wanted more.

After examining the data logs, we realized that the dealer had put 87 octane gas in the car before delivery. That is not ideal for performance runs, and the car was pulling back its timing, resulting in the low figures.

With a little help from our Boostane octane booster, we were able to push the octane rating from 87 to around 93, and then we ran the car on the dyno again.

The Second Dyno Run

The result? 411 rwhp and 363 lb-ft to the wheels. That’s a decent bump – a gain of 19 hp – just from a simple octane fix.

We could have run it a few more times to get even better results, but in these cases, the best plan is to drive the car for a few days and fill it up with 93 octane first.
