Jeremiah Burgess’s VMP Gen2 Supercharged ’04 SVT Cobra

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

Last year, NMRA racer Jeremiah Burgess ran his mildly built ’04 SVT Cobra in NMRA’s True Street class at Atlanta Dragway. This season, he is stepping up his race program and trying his hand at class racing. His sights are set on NMRA’s Ford Muscle class.

To support his efforts in the Ford Muscle class, Jeremiah added some new modifications. His Accufab short block is a complemented by a VMP Gen2 blower complete with a GT500 throttle body and elbow. The Cobra is rockin’ a slew of other mods including a Lethal return-style fuel system, Bosch 105 injectors, and an aftermarket intake. Burgess also installed a 2014 GT500 heat exchanger, Mishimoto radiator, thermostat, PNR ice tank setup, Strange front and rear shocks, Aerospace Components front and rear billet brake kit, and many UPR components. A McLeod RXT clutch and flywheel transfer power. Full exhaust runs from headers down to the tailpipes. Jeremiah’s Cobra is chockfull of other mods that have it running down the quarter-mile in the 11 second range. Sooner rather than later, he plans to install a roll cage. Then, he’ll really bring the heat to the track.

NMRA’s Ford Muscle class is an index class. Thus, competitors elect a dial-in time; they then race a competitor who has elected a dial-in time. The competitor that runs closest to his or her dial-in time without going under, wins. The class allows for superchargers and turbochargers, making it an apt home for a VMP TVS supercharger.
