Runs 8.44 at 164 mph at NMCA Following Weekend
Thanks to a busted transmission in his 2010 Shelby GT500, NMRA/NMCA heavy-hitter Randy 
Thomas was forced out of the VMP Superchargers Terminator vs GT500 battle during eliminations Saturday night on March 3rd, 2018, while competing at the 24th annual NMRA Spring Break Shootout at Bradenton Motorsports Park.
After the trans failure caused him to leave the event earlier than expected, Randy towed his Shelby GT500 to VMP’s Performance shop in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. At VMP, it received a quick Turbo 400 automatic (TH400) transmission swap, as well as a rear-mounted trans cooler.
Randy was back at it during the 16th-Annual NMCA Muscle Car Mayhem event in Bradenton on Saturday, March 10th. Before rain washed out Saturday’s planned afternoon runs for True Street, Randy piloted his 1,200-hp Shelby GT500 down the quarter-mile. He nabbed an 8.42 pass at 164.89 miles per hour.
The QA1-sponsored True Street class, which normally runs from start to finish on Saturday, was forced to Sunday due to rain. Unfortunately, Randy was not able to stay and compete on Sunday for the 8-second win. He did, however, grab an incredibly fast pass during time trials with his chute-packed Shelby before calling it quits.
